The new carpet is in and looks fantastic. But what an exhausting process!
We have a 1900 square foot ranch, so it's not excessively big. But during the first day of install, I logged 10,700+ steps and never left the house!
I woke up on day two tired and sore. Although I work out regularly, all the lifting, shifting, and ladder climbing took a toll on my senior body. And I'm not finished. I still need to put back the home office, which includes book shelves, and the dining room, which includes the china hutch. And I need to wash and hang the window shears in the master bedroom. More ladder climbing!
We could have put off new carpet for at least another year or maybe two. But having just gone through it, I'm so glad we didn't wait. In a year or two, it might have killed me!

The Good and The Bad and The Good
The good news is the new vacuum we needed for the new carpet cost much less than expected. And I've maintained a three pound weight lose for three weeks.
The bad news is every room of our house has now been compromised in preparation for the new carpet install. I absolutely hate living in chaos. And it makes me so sad to see our home in such a mess.
But the good news is most of the windows have been washed; more unnecessary and unused items have been purged; and, by Tuesday evening, I should be able to put the hobby room and bedrooms back together.
Deep breaths.

It's Just Wrong
I keep a neat and tidy home. And I'm constantly improving its efficiency and organization. In fact, my biggest motivator for continually purging is to make it easy to find and access absolutely everything. And to also make it easier and quicker to keep the whole house clean. Therefore, as I prepare for the installation of new carpet, my anxiety level is soaring!
On Tuesday, the carpet will be replaced in the two bedrooms, the hobby room, and the hall. So, so far, I've moved a roomful of craft supplies to the dining room; begun emptying the bedroom closets by hanging clothes in doorways; and stripped and washed two windows. To me, I'm now living in chaos!
I keep reminding myself that, when it's over by next Friday, my house will be thoroughly clean and I'll be free to enjoy the summer. But, as the prep continues, it's getting harder and harder to convince myself. I suppose if it gets super bad, I can always take one of those Xanax the doc prescribed in case I have another panic attack due to claustrophobia. Either that or break my diet with a couple of Margaritas!
