Talented Five-Year-Old

Elliott is a creative, imaginative, and articulate five-year-old with the vocabulary of a high schooler.  Here are two examples that prove my point.

First, this morning Emily and Mike asked Elliott to entertain his brother because they weren't ready to get Jonah up.  This is what they overheard -- "Hi, Jonah. Are you walking around your habitat?"  Elliott hears something once and is able to use it properly and creatively from then on.  He had just learned about bug habitats last Friday and cleverly used the term, today, for Jonah's crib.

The next example shows how Elliott's begun using his language skills to relate stories.  This is how he told me about the excitement over one of his growing seeds:

"Daddy burst into my room and said, 'Elliott, hurry, come immediately!'  And when we got outside, mommy said, 'Look at your pot!'"

Maybe some day Elliott will become the published writer in the family.  But whatever he becomes, I hope he finds a fun way to support himself using his imagination and creativity.
