Our front foundation wall is caving in. This has been going on for years and is not unusual for our area. We've known for a long time that it needs to be stopped and corrected. However, we've kept it "on the back burner" because we've had more pressing expenses (tuitions, weddings, mortgage, etc.). But honestly we've delayed for so long because clearing stuff ten feet from a foundation wall is a lot of work.
No more putting it off. The fix begins February 21 and will take three days. So, since the first of the year, we've been purging, reorganizing and temporarily relocating half of the garage and basement storage.
Actually, it's good that we waited so long. Over the last five years we've trashed and donated a lot of items we've had for years. I've never been a hoarder and have little sentimental attachment to anything except photos. But Jim has just recently been more open to getting rid of things we no longer need or use. I'm so glad he's "on board" now. Life is much easier when you're not stumbling and fumbling through excess stuff.
